Your Dream Home Gym

How to Make Your Home Gym a Dream Gym

Do I love my home gym? Yes. Do I use it 3 at least 3 times a week? Yes! Why? Because I can’t always get to the gym every-other day. If I feel like exercising one day instead of another, I can wake up 15 minutes early and I don’t have to go anywhere. I have no excuses.

And, like any of the stories about clothes collecting dust on the treadmill, you have to work on it. It has to be intentional and you have to motivate yourself. No one else can do that for you.

The one recommendation I have is that it be in a room that you don’t normally use. A room that is just for working out. It can be the garage or a large closet. As long as you can stretch out on the floor with extended feet and arms, you’re good to go! Enjoy your workout!

A Few Important Notes to consider:

If you found a piece of equipment you want to price on Amazon, leave us a comment to let us know where you live and we’ll see what Amazon charges for your country.

  • Consider the price tag on the equipment you buy at the store. When looking to purchase, add the price of the equipment, delivery and assembly charges. You may find deals at Amazon because they can deliver right to your door and they have professional assemblers. Amazon Prime has deals on delivery, so you may want to check on that too.
  • Your heavy gym equipment needs care. You can hire someone to do a preventive maintenance (PM) check on your equipment yearly and it would be money well spent. They can clean the machine, oil it, and check the belts for wear to be sure it’s in good working order for your next workout! Again, Amazon has services that can help with your in-home service needs.
  • If you invest in good home workout equipment, you might want to check your homeowners policy to see if the equipment can be included. These machines are an investment in your health so you’ll want to register them with the manufacturer and may want to insure them for replacement.

One of the secrets of motivating yourself to workout is having an environment that you enjoy. Whether it’s seeing a nice room that is well laid out, has the right equipment, or being nicely dressed for working out, you want a great experience that you are compelled to repeat. Yes, there is something said for the ratty old pair of sweatpants and t-shirt you have with sweat stains in the back of your closet, but that should be for your relaxing days where you want to really relax.

But for a workout room? Make it your room that screams fitness success. Here’e a few tips on creating a great workout room (see tips below).

Quick note before we forget:  Remember, whether you buy locally or online, the equipment will need to be assembled. You want someone who is reliable, has experience with assembling that equipment with a customer service department you can call if there are problems. You want a company that is responsive if there are problems with the assembly after the technician has left your home. (think of IKEA – I love that store, but I don’t know about you, but I always have a few parts left over and have to take it apart and start again).

When you browse the equipment listed below, you can check out Amazon for assembly options. You know you can trust them and they will be responsive to you. Their customer service if phenomenal.

#1  For a great workout room surround yourself with motivation. A great wall decal has a subliminal effect even after you stop actually realizing it’s there. Your subconscious mind will ‘see’ it for renewed motivation as if you are seeing it for the first time.
