How Mindfulness Protects You as You Get Older – Infographic

We hear a lot about mindfulness in today’s modern world. We are living amongst a plethora of devices like smartphones, laptops, tablets. It seems like we’re always connected through various social media platforms even when we’re on the move! And as we grow older, connections become more and more important and this modern technology can facilitate that. However, the issue with this constant connectivity is that it can be difficult to switch off. The infographic below will help explain how mindfulness protects us as we get older.

Mindfulness is a skill

Mindfulness is a skill that sometimes requires us to really work at it in order to become “good” at it. Being connected to one’s inner thoughts can have excellent benefits. One of the best is that it allows us to be more in tune with ourselves and to live in the moment.

Be Conscious of Your Mindfulness

As we grow older, being active is also as important as being conscious of our mindfulness. Being active and out and about not only helps our bodies in terms of health but it also brings our world in tune with everything we do. Going for a swift walk can be done in conjunction with mindfulness. It is a great way for us to take time to look around, live in the moment and experience comprehensive gratitude for the world around us. As they say, time to “smell the roses”.

The professionals from Be Independent Home Care have put together the infographic below that explains exactly what mindfulness is and how it relates to older people. It details the amazing benefits for older people and highlights how it can even protect you as you grow older. There’s also some expert advice on the matter plus lots more! 1. Thanks Jason, I thought it was excellent as well. Mindfulness is something most of us can use more of, at least I know I can :) thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks Dave. I’ve recently started to be aware of my lack of mindfulness and now that I’m focusing on it, I see the many benefits. I have a long way to go, but thought this infographic was perfect timing for us all as we struggle with staying apart from each other. I hope you are doing great and staying well!

  2. Joan, the quintessential guide for not letting technology take over our lives. One must be astute when it comes to avoiding gadgets- they are but mere inanimate objects. One’s focus and attention should always be with a friend, relation, acquaintance… undivided with eye contact. An exceptional piece!

    1. Great point Lance. I would often see families that would be buried in their phones. It always strikes me as a little sad that someone who is not with us can take our attention away from those that think we are important enough to spend time with. Of course, there are those that we cannot be with due to distance (especially now) that we would love to see if we could, but I do think that it is a skill to be able to tune the device out for the people that are with us now. Thank you so much for stopping by, we hope you visit often!

      1. Thank you, Joan. We’ve become a world of ‘tech freaks’. We converse with others while texting. Rarely do we actually look at someone when talking. Very shameful. And yes, it’s a dying skill to properly behave in society. A pleasure- and will be doing so! Best wishes, Lance.

      2. Thanks so sincerely, Joan. With all that’s going on in the world today, we must and should be more focused on reevaluating our personal one on one skills. Of course, after a vaccine is discovered. You’re very welcome. I will be doing so. Blessings.

  3. Thanks so sincerely, Joan. With all that’s going on in the world today, we must and should be more focused on reevaluating our personal one on one skills. Of course, after a vaccine is discovered. You’re very welcome. I will be doing so. Blessings.

  4. How true Lance. It’s such a busy world, I think we sometimes get engrossed in getting as much done in a day as we possibly can, and we forget to be mindful.
