Good article about overeating – which is the reason why I don’t like buffet’s. Eating at a buffet you always eat ‘just a little to try it’ but wind up eating too many ‘little’ portions. Good read!

Perhaps food has always been an issue for you. Maybe you’ve never had an eating disorder, but eating too much and lack of portion control have seemed to be a struggle since you were young.

Increase in Caloric Intake

A 2004 New York Times article revealed a 30-year study on American eating habits between the years of 1970 and 2000. In 1971 a woman’s average calorie intake was 1,542 and a man’s average calorie intake was 2,450…

    1. Hi Frank,
I hope you are well. So, the goal should be to eat what you need to be healthy, or, if you want to lose weight, less calories than you eat each day. If you exercise a lot, then eating a lot is not necessarily a problem – it’s only a problem if your body begins to store fat as a result of not using as many calories as you take in. May we recommend some interesting books [link] you may find helpful. Please let us know if there’s anything we can help you with.

    1. Hi Merry, here are some books that you can browse through to see if they interest you [Amazon] but please realize that while these can give you pointers and ideas for weight loss, it starts with you. I have struggled with my weight since high school and one day found that I was eating, but not feeling full. Then I thought about it and when I went back for seconds I started to think ‘what do I REALLY want’. Most times, a nice cold glass of ice water did the trick and I found that I really was full after all. So, it’s finding ‘tricks’ that you can work with and remember at the most optimal times.

The Best of Luck – remember that perseverance is your friend – never give up!! Setbacks are ok, but don’t give up on yourself – you can do it. Also look at our exercise page for some exercises to get you into being active. It doesn’t take as much as you think to begin to build muscle, and you can lose a size or two even at the same weight – and you’ll feel better and more confident. A win/win. Short 30 minute walks after dinner are a great start!

Please let us know how you do – we’d love to hear about your journey! Wishing you the best of health!
